2 September 2013: 'Section 12' meeting with Bishop, Patrons & Archdeacon

A section 12 meeting is fairly rare, but Bishop and Patrons wanted to be sure that the PCCs etc had had a fair input to what's in the Profile, and that the process is clear from here on. We seem to have come through OK, so we go on to the next meeting on Thursday.

1 September 2013

How sad we all were to see Mike and Margaret Holloway depart! However, there was no time to waste and we set about recruiting a new Team Vicar as soon as we could.

In June, the PCC of Gotherington, Woolstone and Oxenton met up with the PCC of Bishop’s Cleeve, together with the Southam Committee. At this meeting, Archdeacon Robert talked us through the legal processes we had to follow.

In July, we formed a team with members from all our churches to write a Benefice Profile, and through August we’ve been working on it.

On September 2nd, the Bishop will come to speak to the 2 PCCs and the Southam Committee. This meeting will also be attended by the Archdeacon, the Area Dean and the Patrons. Then on September 5th the 2 PCCs  and the Southam Committee will meet again to approve the Profile, to select  lay representatives to be on the interviewing panel and to agree to the post being advertised.

If all goes according to plan, the post will be advertised nationally in mid-September and we can hope for some strong candidates to appear. The best will be interviewed by a panel consisting of the Bishop, the Archdeacon, the Patrons, the Rector and the lay reps.

This is an exciting time. Watch this space! And please pray for a good process and a good outcome.

(If you're confused about what a Benefice is, and how our churches fit together, you'll find a full write-up at Our Churches, Parishes & Partners)
